TİSK “Woman Labour Force Project”
Based on the idea that the scientific researches, and
activities like seminars-panels will bring in new perspectives and help develop
solution proposals for developing labour market policies for women in a manner
responsive to the needs, our confederation has started implementing the
“Socio-economic Status Analysis of Woman Labour Force” project with the support
of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in 1999 within the scope of large
scale enterprises that have collective agreements.
In the framework of the project; based on the fact that it is
important to primarily identify the existing status for improving the woman
labour, our Confederation made a research on the existing status within the
large scale enterprises having collective agreements within its structure and
published the results, and also organized “Women Labour Force in Turkey
Seminars” in Bursa and Ankara on April and June of 1999.
Our Confederation then shifted its focus towards the woman
labour force in developing industrial zones where SME’s are widespread. It is
within this framework that two panels on “Woman Labour Force in Developing
Industrial Centers” were organized in Ankara and Bursa on October and November
of 2000. (publication
no: 205)
Our Confederation also cooperated with universities in the
framework of the project and field research was carried out in the provinces.
The following studies were published as books in cooperation respectively with
Uludağ University and Gazi-Hacettepe University: “The Status of Woman Labor
Force in Modern Industrial Centers: The example of Bursa”, and “Women Labour
Force Supply in Newly Developing Industrial Regions: Şanlıurfa Sample”. On
December 2003, the “Employment, Female Labour Force and New Labour Law Seminar”
has been organized in partnership with Muğla University. (publication
no: 242)
Moreover; our Confederation has cooperated with Health
Training Faculty of Marmara University in 2002 and 2003 in order to get in touch
with the families live in İstanbul Pendik Industrial Zone. The women and young
women, who work there and who are potential workers, -in the framework of this
dialogue- trained for 4 hours on each of the following topics: puberty, health
and safety at work and first aid.
